SAFA Greater Durban Local Football Association’s boundaries are based on ward divisions as per SAFA guidelines. This district association encompasses a wide range of areas, including Amanzimtoti, Cato Manor, Chesterville, Umbilo, Asherville, Overport, Parlock, Durban Central, Westville, Durban North, Newlands East, Newlands West, Ballito, Forest Hills, Hillcrest, Pinetown, and Reservoir Hills. This diverse region defines the reach of SAFA GDLFA within the Ethekwini Region and represents its broad and inclusive approach to local football.
SAFA GDLFA inherited a variety of affiliates through the merger of its founding districts and the addition of teams from the Pinetown and District Football Association. This legacy included teams with varying levels of discipline and commitment. Over time, all teams adapted to meet the demands of SAFA GDLFA, fostering a spirit of unity and cohesion for the sake of the sport. The integration process created a stronger foundation for the district association and helped establish consistent standards across all teams.
Today, SAFA GDLFA holds the title of the largest district football association within the SAFA Ethekwini Region. Its significant reach and successful integration of diverse teams have cemented its role as a key player in regional football. The association’s growth highlights its ability to unite different communities under a shared passion for the game, reinforcing its mission to promote and develop football across the Ethekwini area.
